Italy Will Pardon 8,000

ROME —
The Italian Cabinet decided Tuesday to grant amnesty to an estimated 8,000 prisoners serving terms of three years or less for petty crimes. The amnesty is part of nationwide celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the Italian republic this month.
