From Reuters
SANTIAGO, Chile —
A car bomb exploded outside the office of former secret police chief Manuel Contreras, a retired army general, but no one was hurt, police sources reported Wednesday.
Police sealed off the city center Tuesday night after receiving a warning about the bomb. Unable to defuse the device, police allowed it to explode, shattering windows along the block containing Contreras’ office, the sources said.
Contreras was forced into retirement by President Augusto Pinochet.
