The former security chief for The Order was sentenced in Seattle to 60 years in prison for his role in the white supremacist group’s plot to overthrow the U.S. government. Richard Joseph Scutari, 39, of Port Salerno, Fla., was among 23 members of The Order indicted in April, 1985, on federal racketeering and other charges. He pleaded guilty to racketeering, conspiracy to racketeer and to a $3.8-million robbery of an armored car near Ukiah, Calif., in July, 1984. “I had no choice but to strike out against a satanic government,” he said at his sentencing. “Christianity will survive as it has in the past . . . by non-pacifistic means.”
