Heavy artillery and rocket fire engulfed three refugee camps in Beirut as Syrian-backed Shia Muslim militiamen carried their offensive against the Palestinians into a third week as the death toll topped 100. The Christian Voice of Lebanon radio station, monitored in Cyprus, said three Lebanese civilians were killed when stray artillery rounds exploded in residential areas near the camps. Meanwhile, residents of Muslim West Beirut and other Muslim areas of Lebanon followed a call by the Amal militia and staged a one-day strike to mark the fourth anniversary of the Israeli invasion of Lebanon.
