IOC Will Offer Some Olympic Events to North Korea
International Olympic Committee President Juan Antonio Samaranch said Sunday some events in the 1988 Summer Olympics set for Seoul, South Korea, will be offered to North Korea, but under strict conditions.
The IOC meets in Lausanne, Switzerland, Tuesday and Wednesday in what may be the last attempt to save the 1988 Games from a political boycott led by North Korea.
Sports sources have said the events could be cycling, soccer, table tennis and archery, though Samaranch would not comment on the choices Sunday.
