Comarco Inc. said it has received seven new contracts in the last four months--including one for research on so-called Star Wars defense systems. The contracts are worth a total of $8.3 million, the Anaheim computer parts supplier said.

The new agreements create a revenue backlog of $140 million, according to Glenn D. Buell, Comarco’s chairman and president.

Among the contracts is a $500,000 research and development agreement to provide a U.S. Air Force contractor with information on the effects of different kinds of laser energy on various materials, said Donald Bailey, Comarco vice president for corporate development. The work is part of the research on the Space Defense Initiative program proposed by President Reagan.

In other contracts, the company will supply Cellular Communications Corp. with parts for roadside emergency call boxes for $1 million; provide the U.S. Air Force with two computer-aided units for a mission-planning system for $1.1 million; provide engineering services worth $1.2 million for a contractor helping the U.S. Coast Guard overhaul its command and control systems, and provide $400,000 worth of avionics engineering for the U.S. Army’s Apache helicopter.

Additionally, the company’s International Business Services Inc. subsidiary received a $1.1-million contract for computer facilities management services for the U.S. Interior Department’s Denver office.

Bailey would not discuss the seventh pact, awarded to Comarco’s Decisions and Design Inc. subsidiary, except to say it is valued at $3 million.
