A man and two women living in the Soviet Ukraine may be the only surviving heirs of a Ukrainian immigrant who died six years ago and left an estate of $88,621--but no will or known relatives, the Stanislaus County public administrator’s office said. For five years the office struggled to find heirs of Ray Panko Shach, born Panteleymon Shachray on a farm near the village of Cherkassy in 1903. Shachray changed his name when he moved to the United States after World War II, but a search conducted by a private firm and a Soviet government agency turned up a nephew and two nieces. If no one else can be found, each will be entitled to about $10,000 after costs of the search are subtracted from the estate.
