Viewpoint / Letters : If the Lakers Trade Cooper, Who Will Be Left to Play Defense?

Share

Bravo to Scott Ostler for his recent column on Michael Cooper and the Lakers. If the Lakers really are stonewalling Cooper, then they are making a terrible mistake. Quite simply, the Lakers are not a championship team without him.

Who do they think can play the point if Magic goes down (as he has before) with an injury? Who do they feel can guard the opposition’s best offensive player? If the rest of the team had shown the same intensity and determination during the playoffs that Coop exhibits every game, maybe Boston wouldn’t be hanging their 16th championship banner.
