The FBI and a famous bounty hunter continued searching Calaveras County for Claude Dallas, a 36-year-old wilderness trapper who was serving a prison term for two murders until he escaped on Easter. Now one of the FBI’s 10 most-wanted criminals, Dallas was reported to be driving east on California 4 last week with a traveling companion, Margaret Lundy. But bounty hunter Ralph (Papa) Thorson, portrayed by Steve McQueen in the movie “The Hunter,” said he believes Dallas is no longer in the area.
