Family of Murdered Israeli Tries to Attack 4 Arab Defendants
Relatives of a murdered Israeli soldier Sunday tried to attack four Arabs being tried in a military court on charges of shooting him to death.
Police threw a protective cordon around the defendants, who pleaded innocent to charges that they killed Moshe Tamam last August.
About 40 of Tamam’s relatives delayed the opening of the trial for an hour after they waved chairs and shouted: “Who needs a trial? We are going to kill you!”
Order was restored, but at the end of the session the family surged toward the dock where the Arabs sat manacled. As security staff members protected the defendants, their Arab lawyers ran from the courtroom.
