A Navy enlisted man accused of espionage for selling a weapons loading manual to an undercover police officer for $360 pleaded guilty to reduced charges at his Port Hueneme court-martial and was sentenced to two years in the brig. Petty Officer 3rd Class Robert Dean Haguewood also received a dishonorable discharge. Haguewood, 24, was demoted to the lowest rate and was stripped of all pay and allowances. He said, “I know what I did was wrong and I’m here to pay my dues.” At the time he sold the manual, he testified, he thought it was classified material. He subsequently learned that the document had been declassified.
