Landlord Jailed for Two Months

A Los Angeles landlord has been jailed for two months for failing to comply with a court order to correct slum conditions at his downtown Los Angeles apartment complex.

Benjamin Green, 62, was sentenced Thursday by Los Angeles Municipal Judge Alan Ellis, who denied a defense attorney’s request that Green be permitted to serve his jail term under house arrest in the apartment building, according to the city attorney’s office.

The three-story building, in which code violations have included exposed wires, rodent infestation and inadequate plumbing, is located at 719-725 E. 5th St.
