Contract talks between AT&T; and its striking workers went past a midnight deadline as both sides haggled over several remaining issues, spokeswomen for both sides said early today in Washington. Both sides appeared optimistic that the three-week nationwide walkout by 155,000 members of the Communications Workers of America would end this weekend. Although the parties reached tentative agreement on a national contract Tuesday, when they set the Saturday midnight EDT deadline for completing negotiations, several local issues involving the six corporate divisions of AT&T; had not been resolved.
