Jenna Johnson of La Habra set a new American record of 55.57 seconds in the 100-meter freestyle at the U.S. Swimming World Championship trials at Orlando, Fla., breaking the old mark of 55.63 seconds, set by Cynthia Woodhead seven years ago.
