The General Accounting Office told Congress that aircraft chartered to move military personnel have a higher rate of failing federal inspections than commercial airliners. The report said that 75% of the planes under Pentagon contract were ranked in the lower half of all aircraft inspected by the Federal Aviation Administration. Rep. Charles Bennett (D-Fla.) has introduced legislation to require Pentagon inspection of all such flights.
