Man Slated to Die Today Given Stay by Texas Court

HUNTSVILLE, Tex. —
Death Row inmate Calvin J. Williams received a stay of execution Monday from a Texas appeals court pending a hearing on his claim that minority members had been unconstitutionally kept off of his jury. Williams, 25, had faced execution today for the killing of a woman during a 1980 robbery in Houston.
