Former Daily News reporter Adam Dawson was dropped from the list of defendants in the $60-million libel suit filed by former Iranian hostage Jerry Plotkin. Dawson, who left the Daily News after the suit was filed, was not immediately available for comment, but his lawyer, Bill Masterson, said his client was “a very happy man” to be out of the case. Plotkin, who was held by the Iranians for 444 days in 1979, 1980 and 1981, charged that a story published in the Daily News after his release was libelous in quoting an unnamed law enforcement source as making statements that indicated he was involved in narcotics.
