Redondo Beach : Increased Budget Approved

Share

The City Council approved a $39.1-million budget for the 1986-87 fiscal year after adding $32,000 for senior citizen activities and $45,000 for a theater program.

City Manager Tim Casey said the budget, 8.8% more than last year, leaves a gap of about $200,000 in the $27-million general fund between estimated revenues and expenditures.

The council approved a trial theater program for adults and children at the request of Recreation and Parks Commissioner Chuck Blais. About $26,000 originally allocated for the Art in Public Places program was transferred to the Recreation and Parks Department to help pay for two annual theater productions. The remaing $19,000 will be allocated from the general fund. The Art in Public Places program has been canceled.

The allocation for senior citizen programs, taken from the general fund at the request of Councilman John Chapman, will be administered through the Community Resource Department by a part-time employee who will organize activities, Chapman said.
