Conrad’s Cartoon on Israeli Spies
Conrad has raised anti-Semitism to an art, using current events to mask his hatred of Jews. What message is conveyed by showing an American flag with Stars of David and the caption, “The spies who came into the folds”? The arrest of an Israeli spy? As Conrad knows, the Star of David represents all Jews, just as the stars of the American flag represents the 50 states. Who then are the spies that Conrad says America has taken into its folds?
The Nazis went far with their attacks on Jews as outsiders, traitors and spies. Hitler would be proud.
