Liberian Government Warns Political Foes
The Liberian government, responding to opposition calls for new elections, has warned that it will maintain law and order at all costs.
The government of President Samuel K. Doe said in a statement read on radio and television Thursday that it would take all appropriate measures against those “who might contemplate or initiate violence” in this West African country.

At a news conference this week, coalition leader Gabriel Kpolleh said, “No election, no peace.”
