South County : Two Men to Receive High Scouting Awards

Two south county men will receive top awards from the El Camino Real District, Boy Scouts of America, at the annual “Catch the Scouting Spirit” reception July 11.

They are Leo Fessenden of San Clemente, who has been active in Scout affairs for more than 50 years, and Shig Kinoshita, a San Juan Capistrano farmer who has been a Cubmaster and worked on a number of the district’s sustaining membership committees.

Rep. Ron Packard (R-Carlsbad) is expected to be guest of honor. Other invitees include Rep. Robert E. Badham (R-Newport Beach), state Sens. Marian Bergeson (R-Newport Beach) and William Campbell (R-Hacienda Heights), Assemblymen Gil Ferguson (R-Newport Beach) and Robert C. Frazee (R-Carlsbad), Supervisor Thomas F. Riley and Sheriff Brad Gates, along with city officials from San Juan Capistrano and San Clemente.

The event will start at 6 p.m. at the San Juan Capistrano Regional Library, 31495 El Camino Real.
