JOHN SHEA TO CHAIR ART MUSEUM BOARD

John Martin Shea, longtime arts activist and collector, has been named chairman of the Newport Harbor Art Museum’s board of trustees and the museum’s chief executive officer.

Shea, who is board chairman of Beacon Bay Enterprises Inc., served as the museum’s board president from 1978 to 1981 and as head of the permanent-collection committee.

The board’s new second-in-command is John Dwan II, who was elected board president and chief operating officer. Dwan is a senior manager with McDonnell Douglas Astronautics Co.

Among those named for the first time to the museum board is Donald Bren, Irvine Co. board chairman and a prominent arts patron.

Other first-time board members are Elaine Redfield, former chairwoman of the Orange County Performing Arts Center; Jerry Dauderman, president of Nautilus Aerobics Plus Centers, and James Selna, an O’Melveny & Myers law firm partner.

The other 1986-87 board officers are vice presidents Warren Fix, Hancock Banning III, Harold Price and Mrs. Charles Ullman; secretary Jay Young, and treasurer David Steinmetz.
