Fifteen Frederick & Nelson department stores and three Crescent stores will be sold for undisclosed terms by the Louisville, Ky.-based firm to a group of Seattle investors headed by G. Arthur Henkens, Basil D. Vyzis and Herman Sarkowsky. The sale is part of a strategy by Batus’ London-based parent, B.A.T. Industries, to trim its U.S. retailing operations. The deal includes Frederick & Nelson stores in Washington and Oregon, a warehouse and a downtown Seattle development site owned by the company, along with the Crescent stores and a warehouse in Spokane.
