LET’S MAKE A DEAL

How does an industry watering hole keep its customers happy? It finds jobs for them.

Here’s what happened: Taft Entertainment wanted to use Residuals, in Studio City, for a bar scene in the company’s currently shooting “When the Bough Breaks.” TV writer Craig Tennis (who owns the joint with 12 limited partners, all industry big shots) said OK--if the casting director gave first consideration for small parts to his employees and regular customers who carry Screen Actors Guild cards.

Result: 10 regulars, plus a bartender and waitress, will appear in the scene with Ted Danson when the two-hour murder mystery airs on NBC this fall.
