The Nation : Atlanta Ford Plant Struck

Three thousand Ford Motor Co. employees struck the Hapeville, Ga., plant in suburban Atlanta, contending the auto maker had accelerated the assembly line at the ultramodern plant without hiring more workers. The plant, which was reopened in October after a five-month, $250-million retooling, is one of two in the country that makes the popular Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable automobiles. No talks were scheduled, union and company spokesmen said.
