Appreciates a History Starting at Beginning

Share

I would like to commend The Times for Terence M. Green’s article, “Venerable Breakers Now on a New Roll” (July 13). Since the beginning of the renovation three years ago many articles have been written regarding the Breakers and they inevitably include the history . . . beginning with Conrad Hilton.

My father and brother are both named for “Uncle Fred (B. Dunn).” Our family is understandably, very proud of our heritage and the role we had in early Long Beach. Uncle Fred was a hard-working man of vision, highly respected by those who knew him. Thanks for including him in the article and accurately starting at the beginning of the story!

The renovation is beautiful. The hotel is one of the few landmarks to survive the fate of a wrecker’s ball in downtown Long Beach.
