Sales of New Models Help MAI Raise 3rd-Period Net

Owing to strong sales of its newer computer models, MAI Basic Four Inc.’s net income for its fiscal third quarter rose 44% to $4 million from the $2.8 million it posted for the comparable period a year ago, the company reported Tuesday.

The Tustin computer maker reported revenue of $69.5 million for the period ended June 30, 17% higher than $59.3 million revenue last year. For the first nine months of fiscal 1986, the company said it earned $11.4 million on revenue of $205.4 million.

MAI did not release figures for the comparable fiscal 1985 period because the company considers that operations started in January, 1985, when the company was bought by Bennett LeBow, a New York investor. LeBow still is the majority owner.
