William (Smokey) Saunders, 71, who in 1935 became the third jockey to win horse racing’s Triple Crown, died in Naples, Fla., of brain and lung cancer. Saunders rode Omaha to victory in the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes in 1935.
