Triple Sec Is Winner by a Nose at Del Mar

DEL MAR — Triple Sec stayed well back for half of the race, then made a move from seventh place to win the $35,000 feature race by a nose Friday before 15,792 fans at Del Mar.

Ridden by Laffit Pincay, Triple Sec ran the 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:15 1/5 and paid $5.80, $3.60 and $2.80.

Perfec Travel, with Corey Black aboard, was sixth at the start and took the lead but could not hold off the winner’s finishing effort. Perfec Travel paid $12.40 and $6.40. Protect Yourself, with Chris McCarron up, paid $6.80 to show.
