The Rhode Island Blood Center announced it will notify medical facilities in at least five states that they may have received blood supplies possibly contaminated with an AIDS antibody. About 100 components of blood suspected of containing the HTLV-III antibody were distributed to 19 hospitals in Rhode Island and medical centers in several other states, said Dr. Ronald Yankee, director of the center. He declined to identify the states other than Rhode Island that received the blood supplies.
