A 40-year-old man was wounded in the leg and head by a plainclothes sheriff’s deputy in East Los Angeles, when he allegedly tried to run the deputy’s partner down with his automobile. According to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau, two deputies, whose names were not released, saw two men beat another with a length of chain, then flee. The deputies reportedly spotted Ruben Sanchez and his brother, Eduardo Sanchez, 26, sitting in a car at a fast-food restaurant and drove alongside them, only to have their unmarked patrol car rammed several times by the Sanchez car. The deputies got out of their car and were attempting to capture the suspects, when Ruben Sanchez tried to back over one of them, a department spokesman said. A second sheriff’s team arrested the brothers. Ruben Sanchez was taken to County-USC Medical Center, where he was reported in satisfactory condition.
