Three managers at the Rockwell-Hanford nuclear plant in Richland, Wash., were suspended for removing warning signs from a contaminated area, before the governor visited the plant, an official said. The Rockwell-Hanford managers contended they removed the signs because they were under pressure from the company to clear the area before Gov. Booth Gardner’s tour in March, 1985. No one in the governor’s party was reported endangered by the radioactive contamination.
