Nine Colombian soldiers were killed when leftist guerrillas set off explosives in a commandeered bus--the fourth rebel attack since President Virgilio Barco Vargas took office Aug. 7, the Defense Ministry said. The bus, blocking a road in central Santander province, was blown up when an army patrol reached the scene, eyewitnesses said. The ambush was blamed on the rebel National Liberation Army. It brought to 31 the number of people killed in rebel attacks since Barco was sworn in, pledging to pacify the violence-plagued nation.
