HAKKARI, Turkey —
Kurdish guerrillas ambushed an army truck and killed 12 soldiers in this southeastern province, Turkish state radio reported Wednesday.
According to the report, insurgents sprayed the truck with automatic weapon fire about 75 miles west of the city of Hakkari on Tuesday night.
One rebel was killed when government troops returned the fire, the radio said.
The attack came 10 days after security forces killed nine suspected Kurdish guerrillas in the eastern province of Tunceli.
