Morocco Plan to Renew Ties With Egypt Told

CAIRO —
Morocco intends to re-establish diplomatic relations with Egypt “as soon as possible,” the Cairo magazine Al Mussawar said Thursday.
According to the magazine, King Hassan II of Morocco told Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak of his intention through a special envoy who visited the Egyptian port city of Alexandria earlier this week.
Morocco joined the majority of Arab states in breaking off diplomatic relations with Egypt after Cairo made peace with Israel in 1979.
