The Oakland school board, concerned about student nutrition, has banned chocolate milk from sale at schools for the second time in four years. “Do you offer candy bars because kids will buy more candy bars than green salads? It’s the same principle,” explained one trustee, unswayed by arguments from the district’s director of food services that “there are so many children who won’t drink milk, but if it’s chocolate milk, they will.”
