Rosemead : Councilman Denies Guilt
Councilman Louis Tury Jr. has pleaded innocent to federal mail-fraud and kickback charges in connection with the alleged payment of more than $20,000 in an effort to win subcontracts to supply parts to a defense contractor.
Tury, owner of Tury Precision Machining, is charged with paying the money to Richard Floyd Herbert, vice president and general manager of Teledyne Camera Systems, to obtain subcontracts on camera system components for the Air Force B-52 bomber.
The trial is scheduled Oct. 14 before U.S. District Judge Edward Rafeedie. Tury, a former Rosemead mayor who is serving his third term on the City Council, was one of 19 people charged in kickback schemes last month by the U.S. attorney’s office. He is free on his own recognizance.
