Doctors plan more tests on Willie Ryles, University of Alabama defensive tackle, to determine if it is possible for him to recover from a blood clot on the brain, a hospital spokesman said in Birmingham, Ala.

Ryles, who collapsed at practice Monday, has not regained consciousness since a three-hour operation to remove the blood clot. His breathing is supported by a respirator.

Meanwhile, in Hattiesburg, Miss., an autopsy on Eric Sorey, University of Southern Mississippi player who died after a practice last week, showed that four conditions combined to kill him.

Dr. Boyd Kellett, the team physician, said the autopsy revealed sickle-cell trait, an inherited condition; a breakdown of muscle cells, an anemia that causes blood cells to break down prematurely, and a slightly enlarged heart with a smaller than average left coronary artery.

The autopsy confirmed that no alcohol or drugs were involved in the death.
