Solidarity underground leader Zbigniew Bujak, the most wanted man in Poland until he was captured May 31, may be released from detention under a limited amnesty program that began July 22, Justice Minister Lech Domeracki said. Bujak, 31, was arrested after five years on the run as head of the outlawed labor union’s Temporary Coordinating Committee. Domeracki, in an interview with the government daily Rzeczpospolita, stressed that only those prisoners who promise to behave will qualify for release under the amnesty.
