South Korea Inaugurates Its Sixth Nuclear Plant

SEOUL, South Korea —
The nation’s sixth nuclear power plant started commercial operation Monday, and nuclear stations now generate more than a quarter of the country’s total electricity consumption, Energy Ministry officials said.
The 950-megawatt station in Yongkwang in southwestern Korea cost about $1.2 billion. The nation is building three more nuclear plants for completion by 1989.
