27 Chernobyl Workers Fired

MOSCOW —
Twenty-seven workers involved in the cleanup of the Chernobyl nuclear facility were fired and expelled from the Communist Party for “cowardice” after refusing to follow orders at the radioactive site, Pravda said today.
Pravda said the local Kiev Communist Party committee took the action against the workers, indicating that they were local workers rather than draftees from outside the district.
