Man Surrenders at Court: A Garden Grove man charged with striking a 16-year-old umpire during his son’s Little League game turned himself in Tuesday to a Municipal Court judge. Judge Floyd H. Schenk Jr. had issued a warrant for the arrest of Robert E. Foster, 40, after Foster failed to appear at a court hearing last week. On Tuesday, Foster’s new attorney told the judge that his client had been on vacation when his defense was being transferred from another lawyer and that Foster did not think he had to appear at last week’s hearing. Foster is charged with misdemeanor assault for running onto a playing field and punching Christopher J. Ellson four times during a June 15 game at Edison High School in Huntington Beach before spectators intervened. Foster pleaded not guilty at his June 26 arraignment.
