Runner’s Woe

Share

I just returned from my daily run and just had to put down on paper my experience.

During my six-mile run I was verbally abused once, had three whistles (the only good thing that happened), was almost hit at four marked intersections--twice as I started across the street on a walk sign and twice at intersections when the driver never bothered to look right before he darted out in the street; they also never came to complete stops.

Twice I had to run in the line of traffic because two different tow truck companies had repossessed cars on the sidewalk. I did get across the street once with no problem only because I cut across the street (jaywalked) when there were no cars coming in either direction.

Maybe everyone should become runners--then when they’re driving they might be a bit more cautious, knowing what it’s like to put their life in the hands of a driver.

All we’re asking for is some courtesy and a little observation of the law.
