The World : Rebels Kill 8 at Wedding
Philippine Muslim rebels tossed a grenade into a Roman Catholic church during a wedding Mass, killing eight people and seriously injuring 56, military authorities said. Two suspects in the attack in the town of Salvador, 500 miles south of Manila, were killed by soldiers, according to Col. Raul Aquino, army brigade commander, who said the attackers were members of Moro Islamic Liberation Front. President Corazon Aquino flew to the southern island of Jolo last week for an unprecedented meeting with Nur Misuari, chief of the separatist Moro National Liberation Front. They agreed to hold peace talks aimed at ending a war for Muslim self-rule.
