The Nation : Tropical Storm Tracked

Share

A disturbance off the island of Barbados strengthened into a tropical storm and was given the name Danielle, the fourth named storm of the 1986 Atlantic hurricane season. With maximum sustained winds of 50 m.p.h. and higher gusts in squalls, the storm could strengthen, the National Hurricane Center in Coral Gables, Fla., advised. The storm was moving west at 20 to 25 m.p.h. In the Lesser Antilles, the governments of Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago issued gale warnings and urged small craft elsewhere in the Windward Islands to remain in port.
