Michigan Gov. James Blanchard said Chrysler will spend the money to renovate its Jefferson Avenue plant in Detroit and build a high-technology center in Oakland County. The agreement, announced after Chrysler officials met with representatives of Oakland County, Auburn Hills, Detroit and various state and legislative leaders, will mean a state investment of about $150 million over the next five to six years, Blanchard said. University of Michigan studies show that 24,000 jobs will be maintained or enhanced as a result, he added.
