The World : 12 More Freed in Pakistan
Pakistan freed 12 more opposition politicians, including Tikka Khan, secretary general of Benazir Bhutto’s Pakistan People’s Party. Khan was released after 29 days’ detention. Bhutto--freed from jail Monday--consulted leaders of the 10-party Movement for the Restoration of Democracy about an anti-government campaign they threaten to launch if President Zia ul-Haq fails by Sept. 20 to set a date for elections this year. Political sources said that Bhutto discussed extending the deadline, but no decision was reached.
