British Airways will be sold to the public next year.

The government said the proposed public sale of the state-owned airline will go ahead early next year due to settlement of a dispute with U.S. officials over transatlantic air routes. The sale of the airline in a public offering on the London Stock Exchange is expected to raise about $1.48 billion. The sale was postponed in March because of legal questions over guarantees that British carriers would receive “a fair share of air traffic” between the United States and Britain.
