A man convicted of murdering the son of a former New York Yankees owner was found shot to death in his sports car, police said today.

Barry Adler, 27, who was released from prison five months ago after serving nine years for the murder, was shot twice in the head Thursday night, police said. Adler was convicted in 1977 of second-degree murder for slaying Robert Topping, the 20-year-old son of the late Dan Topping, a former Yankees owner. The Emory University sophomore was stabbed 37 times and dumped from a moving car.
