University of Miami running back Melvin Bratton was charged with shoplifting in wearing a pair of $20 sunglasses out of a Miami department store.
A security guard who stopped Bratton outside a J.C. Penney’s, said Bratton was shopping with his mother and his sister at the time.
“He and his younger sister were playing around in the store,” the guard said. “He was trying on the glasses, looking around like he was pretty. He said he was horseplaying and forgot to put them back.”
Authorities said a trial is set for Sept. 25, two days before the Hurricanes play top-ranked Oklahoma.
